August 24: Valencia part 1

Train station in Valencia, right next to the Plasa de Toros (spelling probably totally wrong--the round building is the bullfighting arena):Close up of the main entrance to the train station:
A clock inside the train station:
Tiled good wishes (so much of the building was mosaic on the inside like this, it was gorgeous and very colourful):
A fruity chandelier, again mosaiced:
A bronze-domed building seen while walking the streets of Valencia:
Don't remember what building this is the top of, but it could be of the post office:
Roof of post office from inside (a humble one, just like Madrid's):

I took this pic, a little ashamed... but I found her pose so captivating I had to take it. Those are Tom's parents beyond her:Dates, anyone? These trees lined a street:

I've never seen a doorknocker like this one:

Tom with a bell tower:
Gorgeous carving flanking one side of a doorway:Tom trying to pry a head out of the wall:Tom's mom (& me) climbing the 200 some-odd steps up a steep spiral staircase to the top of a bell tower:

Me and Tom's mom under the bell :Views from the top of the tower:My first glimps of the Mediterranean:

I think those gates are still standing (although probably restored) from when the Romans built them:Krista descending the bell tower:

Some unique modern "art":

I know, I look kind of strange, but I was looking up into that slot, which I'm assuming was for arrows to come out of (or, possibly waste)... inside it sloped up and widened. Pretty neat to finally look up one of these gaps:
